An Indian oil engineer was killed and an American, two Britons, a Yemeni and a Tunisian were injured when a Yemeni guard opened fire at them randomly, the Yemeni Saba news agency reported on Saturday.
Security sources were quoted as saying that the shooting took place when a helicopter carrying staff from U.S. Occidental Oil Company landed at Jannah oil field, Shabwa province, about 480 km south of Sanaa.
Both the guard and victims work for the U.S. company, they added.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that the attacker Jamil Mohammed al-Raai is suffering from psychological problems," the sources added.
The slain Indian engineer, called Lina Nafa, died immediately after being shot, the sources said, adding that the U.S. nationality who is director of the company, a British security guard and another British expert, a Tunisian pilot and his Yemeni assistant were injured seriously.
