The PA foreign minister, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar, Monday evening conferred with his Bahraini counterpart prince Khaled Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa in Manama over Palestinian developments and predicaments.
A press release for the PA foreign ministry in Gaza said that Zahhar briefed the Bahraini FM on the Palestinian people's sufferings as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggressions and the consequent losses in all walks of life.
Zahhar further elaborated on the economic siege imposed on the Palestinian people and the accumulated debts, which the new PA government inherited from its previous one, and touched on the question of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails.
The foreign minister affirmed keenness on maintaining distinctive relations with the PA chief, Mahmoud Abbas, and stressed that his government's policy was based on national unity, justice and understanding in addition to financial, administrative and moral reformation.
Zahhar stressed that his government would not be involved in any Arab axis against another, adding, "We will not tamper with security of any country and we want all to rally behind the Palestine cause".
He further advocated the creation of an impendent Palestinian economy and its detachment from the "Zionist economy", calling for Arab investments to help bring about such a change.
For his part, the Bahraini FM renewed his government's commitment to what was pledged of financial assistance to the PA in the Khartoum Arab summit.
He urged the Palestinian people to forge closer cohesion and integration among national institutions.
"We will not abandon the Palestinian Authority, government or people," he asserted and backed the PA government's attempt to establish a strong economic system.
