The Pakistani capital may not be deemed as a regional financial center, however, Islamabad hosts another kind of bank which boosts development and sustainability 'in the long run'.

The Saeed Book Bank, the largest book store in Islamabad, has been at the disposal of researchers and book worms for years. The book store's frequent visitors include foreign leaders during their official visits to Pakistan.

With its 50-year history, the Saeed Book Bank has employed 50 people in its three-floor building in the center of the Pakistani capital. Books are divided into categories and visitors can find various kinds of publications on each floor. For instance, the first floor is allocated to art, politics, language training, literature and religions.

A special part is dedicated to the world's best-sellers in the book store, which is one of the main sources for researchers studying the region's political and social characteristics. Along with a wide range of books, souvenirs and cards are also presented to the customers.

In addition to books in English and many foreign languages, a part is divided for Urdu. Most Urdu books are on politics and literature. Among them some are on the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal and the Ottoman Empire.

The company that runs the book bank attached immense importance to children's books. There are many child story books and coloring books. More importantly, children are free of any restrictions as they can browse through shelves. Even if they cannot read yet, they start a sincere communication with books.

One of the visitors who happened to be an author said, "I have penned more than 8 books, this shows my deep interest in writing. I often come here to see new books and sometimes for reading and to be inspired."

Another frequent visitor of the store explained how the book bank influenced him to become a book worm. "They apply a special price reduction for me since I have been buying books from here for years. I have a set of book shelves at home. Those who say 'I love books' should visit here."

To see prestigious international visitors in the Saeed Book Bank is not a surprise. The general director, Saeed Can Kureishi, noted "PM's, presidents and diplomatic representatives along with almost all the visiting politicians come here. Our store is one of the top hotspots for these kind of visitors. Foreign delegations visit Faisal mosque, Shkarpaian hill and the Saeed Book bank."
