A statue of Arthemis has been found in the ancient city of Parion in northwestern Turkey.
The Arthemis statue was found in the village of Kemer in Çanakkale's Biga district during excavations conducted jointly by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the department of archeology of Atatürk University.
Pieces of a marble statue were found in the concert hall of the ancient city. The excavations are under way in six separate parts of the antique city. The statue, which is of a woman holding a bow and arrow in each hand, standing beside an animal and wearing clothes from 1800 years ago, is thought to be that of Artemis.
