Contemporary Istanbul (CI) ,an art fair which brought many art enthusiasts from all over the world to Istanbul, ended on November 10 after hosting 67,000 art lovers in three days.
Around 67 percent of the exhibited artworks found new owners from November 7-10 during the fair held at Lutfi Kirdar International Congress Exhibiton Palace and Istanbul Congress Center.
The total value of the artworks exhibited at CI is estimated at over 180 million Turkish Liras ($90 million).
This year 748 artists, 95 contemporary art galleries from 22 countries, 13 art foundations and 8 art initiatives participated in CI with more than 3,000 artworks.
Many priceless artworks were sold for handsome prices, including Picasso's "Nu allonge et tete d'homme de" at €1.9 million, Andy Warhol's "Flowers" at €0.9 million, Joan Miro's "Deux femmes dans la nuit" at €0.39 million, Carole A. Feuerman's "Brooke with Beachball" at €275.000, Sean Scully's "Wall of Light Orange Light" at €203,000, and Robert Longo's "Untitled (Shark 7)" at €0.35 million.
