ITO’s Deputy President Dursun Topçu underlined that it is their responsibility to preserve and revive Ahi order since the trade chambers are the followers of Ahi communities. “In this year, we decided to organize a different event in a way to transform Ahi week to a fest. ITO attaches great values to traditional craftsmen. I hope our activities to promote Ahi order will continue.”

All the incomes gained during the week was used for ‘The Ahi Foundation’ and provide scholarship to university students.

Optimization of production by teaching the traditional arts to next generations is one of the core values of the Ahi order. In 13th century, Ahi order was first established in Anatolia. Both men and women participated in it. There are several large Ahi communities like Ahiyan-ı Rum, Bâcıyân-ı Rum, Abdalân-ı Rum, Gaziyân-ı Rum. These groups had had considerable role in spreading Islam in Anatolia.
