"The event will be attended by a variety of international and local guests, including artists, journalists and diplomats," the EU said in a statement obtained by Anadolu Agency.
The festival will be officially inaugurated by Ambassador Tomas Ulicny, head of the EU delegation to Sudan.
This year's festival will feature 12 films from Austria, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Films will be screened from November 21 to 28 at the Khartoum offices of Goethe-Institute, the British Council and the French Institute.
The festival launch on Wednesday will be followed by a screening of "The Lady," an Anglo-French production that tells the story of Burmese Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
For the first time, an "adult" animated film – "Arrugas" – will be screened by Spain, according to the EU statement.
Since 2009, the EUFF has been celebrated annually in Sudan.
