'Kuf’, a film by Ali Aydin about a father searching for his missing son, has won the first ever Golden Apple Award in the thirteenth Frankfurt Turkish Film Festival.
‘Kuf’ has won the awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Leading Actor. The festival awarded the ‘Golden Apple Award’ in seven categories for the first time this year. The ten-day festival includes photograph exhibitions, concerts and one man shows.
"This plot is about missing people in Turkish society and the shame relating to it, the artists are the consciousness of the society, and Kuf achieved it," 'Best Leading Actor’ winner Ercan Kesal said. "I dedicate this award to the fathers who teach their sons honor and sentimentality, even at the expense of death."
"Producing a film is challenging, you have to put tough things together," director Ali Aydin said after he received his award from Turkish Consul in Frankfurt Ozkan Durmaz.

Best Leading Actor: Ercan Kesal – Kuf
Best Leading Actress: Sanem Oge – Simdiki Zaman
Best Music: Can Erzincan – Mar
Best Screenplay: Nalan Merter Savas – Elveda Katya
Best Cinematography: Ilke Berke & Canan Ozcan – Mar
"I cannot believe that I won this award," said Semi Cakar, who was awarded the ‘Up-and-coming’ and ‘Jury mention’ awards for his role in the film ‘Semi.'
The festival exhibited pieces representing Turkish culture and art, and the committee has enthusiastically started working for a better festival next year, said Festival Committee Chairman Huseyin Sitki.
