People from different ethnic origins and religions came together in the Şırnak district of İdil within a program called “Land of Languages and Religions.”

Şırnak Deputy Governor İhsan Selim Baydaş, Patriarch of Turkey’s Syriac Catholic Church Yusuf Sağ, who is also President of the Interreligious Dialogue Commission, students and many other local people attended the event.

The Mardin Choir of Languages and Religions performed folk songs and hymns in five languages: Turkish, Kurdish, Arabic, Syriac and Armenian.

People in İdil which is known for its multi-religious and multilingual community showed great interest in the program.

Seçkin Mataracı, the teacher of the Mardin Choir of Languages and Religions, also expressed his views as such: “One of the objectives in establishing this chorus is giving the message of peace and tolerance to the world.”
