Turkey hopes deal to restore historic mosques in Bulgaria

Chairman of the Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA) Musa Kulaklikaya said Tuesday TIKA planned to sponsor the restoration of three biggest mosques in Bulgaria that were constructed during the Ottoman era.

Speaking to the AA, Musa Kulaklikaya said that, once Turkey's and Bulgaria's ministries of culture sign a relevant agreement, TIKA will begin the restoration of mosques in Razgrad, Kyustendil and Shumen.

Bulgaria and Turkey need to sign a new agreement in order to continue bilateral restoration projects. I hope that the agreement gets signed soon so we can start working on the restoration of mosques, Kulaklikaya said.

Kulaklikaya was in the delegation of Turkish State Minister Faruk Celik who paid a three day visit to Bulgaria.
