Turkey has ranked third in Blue Flag, an exclusively international eco-label given to beaches and marinas, Turkish Environment Education Association General Manager Erol Gungor says.
In his speech during "Blue Flag Local Responsibles Training Seminar" held in Izmit, Gungor said, "383 beaches, 21 marinas and 13 yachts in Turkey have been awarded so far, and now we are third in Blue Flag."
Reminding that Turkey has "Blue Flag" experience for 20 years, Gungor stated that the number of Blue Flag beaches will increase.
"Blue Flag" is an exclusive eco-label given to beaches and marinas having reached to a standard stated in the criteria.
It is an international program currently being implemented in 41 countries around the world including European countries, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, New Zealand, Canada and Caribbean.
