The Turkish Culture and Art Festival has started in Boston, the capital city of the US state of Massachusetts with traditional flag ceremony.
Turks living in Boston and representatives from Boston Municipality attended the ceremony. Coupling with the start of the festival, Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino have declared 29 October as “Turkish Republic Day” for their respective administrative area.
Meanwhile, Boston Municipality has organized a reception for the festival. The director of the festival, Erkut Gomulu, voiced his pleasure to organize the festival for the 18th time and the Republic Day. Turkey’s Boston Consul General, Burak Kararti, congratulated the day and emphasized social solidarity.
The Boston Turkish Festival will end on 15 December and is supported by Turkey’s Culture Foundation, Culture and Tourism Ministry, Turkish Airlines (THY), and Turkey’s Promotion Fund.
