Turkish World Folk Dances Festival kicks off in Eskisehir

The Turkish World Folk Dances Festival opened in Eskisehir on Wednesday in the midst of Nowruz celebrations of March 19-20.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the festival at Anadolu University BESYO Sports Arena, Eskisehir Governor Gungor Azim Tuna said that the festival marked the start of new and beautiful beginnings.

The festival, organized by Eskisehir 2013 Turkish World Capital of Culture (TDKB) Agency, opened with the recitation of the poem “Canakkale” by Mucahit Kasgarli of East Turkistan.

Artists from 30 countries presented folk dances and sang songs.

The Nowruz festivities will continue for two days.
