Twelve Afghan local police officers were abducted after being poisoned by unknown gunmen in Afghanistan’s southern Zabul province.

Provincial Security Chief Ghulam Sakhi Lewanai confirmed the report which said the twelve local police officers were abducted in Shahjoi district on Wednesday night.

Lewanai said the police officers were initially drugged and were then abducted.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

A spokesman for the Taliban said Taliban fighters attacked the check post with the help of infiltrators and captured 12 policemen.
