Police are searching Monday for gunmen behind a rare shooting in Vietnam that left three forestry company workers dead and 15 injured over an apparent land dispute in the Central Highlands.
The violence broke out Sunday morning in a remote section of Dak Nong province after employees from the Long Son Limited Company arrived to raze land for a plantation, reported the VN Express news site Monday.
Following a heated argument between the workers and local residents, four men are reported to have opened fire on the workers with shotguns.
Disputes between locals and forestry companies were commonplace in the area, Dak Ngo Commune Party Secretary Le Van Minh told VN Express.
"Most of the disputed forest land had previously been encroached by locals. After the authorities reclaimed the land and assigned it to forestry companies, the locals became angry," Minh said.Last Mod: 24 Ekim 2016, 12:28
