Afghanistan's Interior Ministry claimed Wednesday that 33 Taliban insurgents were killed, two wounded and nine arrested in the last 24 hours.
In a statement sent to Anadolu Agency, the ministry said Afghan National Police and Afghan National Army conducted several anti-terrorism joint operations over the past 24 hours.
The operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Nooristan, Kandahar, Zabul and Helmand provinces, it added.
"As a result 33 armed Taliban members were killed, two wounded and nine others were arrested by Afghan National Security Forces," said the statement.
