All passengers are reportedly rescued from the airplane type "Boeing 737-800" of the Air Niugini airliner, as a result of the immediate assistance provided by area fishermen with their boats.

Local residents also reported that there are some injured among broken-bore passengers as the plane "fluttered lower than it was" as it was preparing to land on the runway and consequently wandered beyond the lagoon waters.

"Flight 73" was driven by Pohnpei to Micronesia to Port Moresby, but stopped in Chuuk State. Videos published on social networks showed dozens of people in the boats around the partially immersed plane.
