Several events are taking place Wednesday in Azerbaijan to commemorate those who were killed on March 31, 1918 within the scope of the "Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis".

Nearly 50,000 Azerbaijanis were killed on March 31, 1918 by Armenians under Bolsheviks' policy.

Azerbaijan's former president Haydar Aliyev declared March 31 as the "Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis" in 1998. Since then, March 31, Day of Azerbaijanis' Genocide is annually remembered in the Republic of Azerbaijan in official level, the respects are paid to genocide victims, the vigilance of world community is attracted to this issue.
