Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent a congratulatory letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan over his win in the referendum in Turkey on April 16, according to the premier’s office.
In the letter, Hasina said: “It is with great pleasure that I, on behalf of my people and my government, take this opportunity to congratulate you on winning the verdict of the Turkish people in favor of constitutional amendment ushering in the executive presidential system.”
She also said the win reflected the confidence of Turks in Erdogan’s leadership.
“The massive turnout in the referendum and the support demonstrate the trust and confidence of Turkish people in your leadership,” she said.
Hasina hoped they could together take their two countries’ existing brotherly relations to new heights for the mutual benefits of their peoples in the future, in particular through focus on cooperation in economic, commercial, technological, educational, defense and cultural fields.
She also wished Erdogan a good health, long life and happiness. She added that she wanted the brotherly people of Turkey to enjoy continued peace, progress and prosperity.
