Spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry Liu Veymin said Tuesday that they were considering sending an envoy to Syria to hold negotiations to end the problem there.
The remark comes on the day Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was due to meet Assad in Damascus and discuss ways to try to end the uprising, although Moscow has vetoed a resolution against Syria at the United Nations Security Council.
We want the incidents in Syria to end by dialogue. The Beijing administration thinks about sending an envoy to Syria so as to end the crisis by political methods, Veymin noted.
China recently vetoed a resolution on Syria at the United Nations Security Council. China said that forcing UN countries to interfere in Syria would not contribute to the solution of the problem in Syria.
