Deputy President of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Professor Lie Jie said on Tuesday on Tuesday that the success of China's economic policies and the manner of their implementation has resulted in immense changes in Chinese society.

Following a conference at the International Strategic Research Organization (USAK), Jie said China' s economy grew rapidly between 1978 and 1992.

"The country was opened to foreign investments, and reforms were also implemented in urban industry to increase productivity," said Jie, stating that after the 2008 global financial crisis, China entered a critical period which they called a "transition period."

Reminding that China took critical decisions after the global financial crisis, Jie said, "Firstly China should take global perspective and adopt the global strategies as soon as possible. We also decided that we have to solve the domestic problems for success in international affairs."

Jie also stated that the rapid economic growth caused social corruption.

He said, "China witnessed not only the rapid growth in government and economy but also the increase in corruption cases. However, the government showed tolerance towards corruption."

Jie emphasized that he saw Turkey as a bridge between the East and the West, like China, and added that "In Turkey we got a lot of impressions from the civilization and personification of the time. One impression is that Turkey is located between the West and the East, which reminds me my motherland China. I think this special geography means a lot."
