Celebrations took place in China, Singapore, Manila and other parts of the world as the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, marking the start of the Year of the Snake, began on Sunday, February 10.
The celebration is the most important annual holiday in Asia.
This New Year marked the transition between the years of the Dragon to the start of the year of the Snake.
Various cultural programs were organized in the capital and people burnt firecrackers.
