Death toll from typhoon rises to 28 in Philippines

At least 28 people were killed by Typhoon Mangkhut in northern Philippines on Sunday, police said.

Oscar Albayalde, Philippine National Police (PNP) director, said that most of the casualties occurred due to landslides caused by the typhoon, local media reported.

Albayalde added more than 100,000 people have been evacuated to safe places.

Nearly 250,000 people have been affected by Typhoon Manghkut, which has decreased its speed down to 100 kilometer per hour and is headed to southern China and Hong Kong.
