Unknown assailants hurled hand grenades at a jirga (tribal assembly) in the northwestern Orakzai tribal area on Sunday, killing four people and injuring two.
"All the four persons died on the spot, while two are seriously injured," Mahmud Akram, Orakzai Agency's political agent, who serves as head of the government administration in a tribal area, told Anadolu Agency.
The Jirga was being held to settle down some local disputes when unknown attackers riding motorbikes threw hand grenades at the participants and sped away.
Orakzai Agency is one of the seven tribal agencies where the Pakistani military is engaging Taliban militants.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
