Newly sworn-in Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili has confirmed the appointment of Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili as the country's new prime minister.
Meanwhile, Bidzina Ivanishvili who established a coalition called "Georgian Dream" and won parliamentary elections in 2012 resigned from his post after Garibashvili took over the seat.
New PM Garibashvili will start his post after confidence vote and he is expected to make no chang in cabinet except a new interior minister, Aleksandr Chikaidze.
The new cabinet is expected to be confirmed by parliament later this week.
Garibashvili who is 31 was the youngest member in the parliement while he was Interior Minister. However, 28 year old Aleksandr Chikaidze claimed this title as he became new interior Minister.
On November 17, after taking the oath of office, Margvelashvili signed his first presidential decree, authorizing the members of outgoing Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili's government to perform their duties before parliament confirms a new government.
