Indian Supreme Court permitted the construction of controversial Kudankulam nuclear power plant.

The contruction of Kudankulam, 700 kilometres south to Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu state, was postponed because of the protests by anti-nuclear groups and residents in the area, following Fukusima disaster in Japan in 2011.
