Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have began talks on a possible land swap to help overcome a border dispute.

According to a RFE/RL report, Raziya Osorova, the head of the Kok-Tash village along the border, said that Kyrgyz villagers may be relocated to another region if the land is given to Tajikistan.

The border villages of Maseit, Aryk-Asty, and Tash-Tumshuk may also be subjected to a relocation scheme should the two sides agree.

The border has been closed since a breach in January resulted in a shoot-out between Kyrgyz and Tajik soldiers, leaving both sides with injuries.
