Kyrgyzstan's government has said that it recognizes Crimea's referendum and decision to join Russia.
The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday "the results of the referendum in the Crimea from March 16 represent the will of absolute majority of the population of the autonomous republic."
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law the annexation of Ukraine's strategic peninsula of Crimea. The move followed a March 16 referendum in Crimea where 97% of voters chose to secede from Ukraine and join Russia.
