MP in Kyrgyzstan sentenced to 11 years

A member of Ata-Jurt (Fatherland) Party and member of Parliament Nariman Tulayev was sentenced on Tuesday to 11 years for damaging the budget of the municipality when he was mayor of Bishkek.

Judge Aman Sariyev passed the sentence on the case, which had been going on for 3 years, and sentenced Tulayev to 11 years for being a grafter.

Moreover, Judge Sariyev made a decision confiscating the property of Tulayev, who was the mayor of Bishkek during the term of ousted President Kurmanbek Bakiev.

Tulayev was charged with increasing the purchasing cost of 200 public service vehicles imported from China when he was mayor of Bishkek in 2008, and therefor with financially damaging the government by USD 1 million. Tulayev was taken into custody on 23 June 2012.
