All Pakistan Muslim League, whose leader is Pakistan's former President Pervez Musharraf, announced it will protest the elections on May 11.

In a press statement Muhammed Amjad, spokesman for the party founded by Musharraf who was sentenced to a lifetime ban from politics by a local court last week, expressed that the party had decided not to participate in elections due to the prohibition on the ex-president from engaging in politics.

Amjad said their struggle will continue until the return of Musharraf's political rights and they will prtest the general elections to be held on May 11.

Musharraf, who served as president between 1999 and 2008, settled in England after leaving office and founded the All Pakistan Muslim League in 2010.
