SOCAR plans to begin constructing a new gas processing plant south of Baku in mid-2014, SOCAR's senior representative told the media today.
This plant will be built as part of a project on a new Oil and Gas Processing and Petrochemical Complex (OGPC).
The representative added that the detailed engineering of the new plant, which will be built in two lines of six billion cubic meters each, must be completed by late 2013. It is planned to announce a tender in six months to choose the contractors for new enterprise construction to begin construction work by the middle of 2014.
Regarding the construction of two other enterprises included in the complex of oil processing and petrochemical production plants, SOCAR representative stressed that currently, the possibility of coordinating the existing enterprises with a new complex is being considered. The modernization operations may be conducted there.
In case of expediency of coordinating the old and new enterprises, the costs envisaged for the OGPC establishment may be reduced.
SOCAR representative said that the operations within OGPC creation are conducted in accordance with the schedule. According to it, the complex will be put into operation in stages during 2018-2021.
Construction of a new complex worth $17 billion (including interest on bank loans) entails the construction of a petrochemical enterprise with a capacity of 1.7 million tons of finished products, an oil refinery with a capacity of 10 million tons per year as well as a gas processing plant with a capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year. The depth of oil processing at the plant will be at about 95 percent, and the yield of light oil products - 85 percent.
A thermal power plant with a capacity of 250 megawatts will be built as part of the new complex.
The complex will be located in 60 kilometers from Baku. Commissioning of the entire OGPC complex is scheduled for the end of 2020.Last Mod: 24 Mayıs 2013, 16:35
