Pakistan on Saturday condemned the U.S. drone strikes on North Waziristan, terming them a violation of international laws and human rights.
The Foreign Office said in a statement that drone strikes at the current stage had a negative impact on Pakistani government's efforts to bring peace and stability to the region.
A U.S. air strike killed eight men in the town of Dattakhel in North Waziristan tribal region on early Saturday.
The strike marks the third drone attack on Dattakhel after Pakistani army launched a ground and air invasion in North Waziristan on June 15 to eliminate Pakistani Taliban militants from the region.
“Pakistan regards such strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Foreign Office statement said.
Although Pakistan publicly opposes the drone strikes, it is believed that the U.S. enjoys a tacit support from its South Asian ally in its so-called war on terror.
