Three supreme court judges have been appointed by the court on Monday to investigate the shooting of one of the country's most prominent journalists.

The judges will investigate allegations that Pakistan's intelligence services, known as ISI, were responsible for the the attack that injured Hamid Mir in southern port city Karachi on Saturday

The judicial commission was ordered by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday after demands from national and international journalist associations. Sharif has already announced a 10 million Pakistani rupee (US$100,000) reward for a tip-off that could lead to the attackers.

Mir who hosts popular talk show “ Capital Talk” on the national Geo TV was on his way to his office after landing in Karachi airport from Islamabad.

According to Geo TV, Mir recently told channel management that if he was ever attacked, ISI and its chief Lt General Zaheer ul Islam would be responsible.

The army rejected Mir’s allegation, saying it was ready to cooperate with investigations.

Mir had reportedly been receiving threats from secret agencies for raising the issue of hundreds of missing persons in Pakistan, who are in alleged custody of secret agencies.
