Zahid Ali Akbar Khan (80), a retired Pakistani general, has been arrested in Bosnia & Herzegovina, an Interpol officer confirmed Friday.
Bosnia & Herzegovina's Interpol Chief Mirela Znor told Turkish press that Akbar Khan, who was sought by Pakistani Interpol with an international search warrant on charges of involvement in a corruption case, was arrested on May 5 as he entered into the country.
"We have informed the Interpol Office in Islamabad. Now we are waiting for them to send the required papers," said Znor for general's handover to Pakistani officials.
Bosnian border guard sources also confirmed the arrest of Akbar Khan, also a British national.
Pakistani Court issued an arrest warrant for the retired Pakistani general back in 2007. He was sought by the police since then.
Akbar Khan was claimed to have worked on Pakistan's nuclear weapon development program.Last Mod: 11 Mayıs 2013, 09:19
