On Friday 100 scholars from the Ulema Board of Sunni Tehrik called on the Pakistani Taliban to a cease-fire for the sacred Islamic month of Muharram.
They also called on fellow religious scholars to promote peace and understanding among the Muslims in the sacred month.
According to Pakistan’s Daily Times, the scholars want to see propaganda literature being spread among various schools of thought should destroyed, and said that those who attack both Muslim and non-Muslim places of worship cannot be called Muslims.
This comes as the Pakistani Taliban has elected new leader Khan Sayed ahead of planned peace talks, after their former leader Hakimullah Mehsud was killed by a drone strike yesterday.Last Mod: 02 Kasım 2013, 13:38
