Myanmar's border security force did not respond to Bangladeshi border guard's invitation to hold a meeting Friday over the tension that has been building up along the border since a Bangladeshi soldier was reported missing Wednesday, local sources told the Anadolu Agency.
According to the Bangladesh Border Guard, Myanmarese security forces fired gunshots at Bangladeshi patrol teams Friday evening.
Following the latest wave of fire exchanges, Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Myanmar's ambassador in Dhaka, Myo Myint Than, in protest over the incident.
After this, Myanmar's Border Guard Police announced that they had found a dead body, but they were yet to show the body to Bangladeshi authorities to identify if it was of the missing soldier, Mizanur Rahman.
