Ten rebels and two Pakistani soldiers have been killed in fighting between government forces and separatists in south-western Baluchistan, officials have said.
Thursday’s clashes in Turbat, 500 km from the state capital of Quetta, came as security forces launched a search operation against Baluch separatists, Khan Wasey, a spokesman for the Frontier Corps, told reporters.
He said militants armed with heavy weapons killed two troops and injured five. Ten rebels were killed and 20 wounded.
Baluchistan, rich in copper, gold and natural gas, has been a battleground between security forces and secular Baluch militants fighting for the "liberation" of the province.
The province, stretching from the Afghan border to the Arabian Sea, has seen several insurgencies in the years since partition.Last Mod: 08 Ağustos 2014, 09:55
