Two United Nations officials have been abducted in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi, police have said.
Sami Nawaz and Farrukh Saleem, two Pakistanis based in the eastern district of Karachi, the country's commercial capital, were grabbed by armed assailants, city police chief Javed Alam Odho said on Friday.
"A major search operation has been launched in various parts of the city to locate the captors," he said.
No group has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
Karachi, on the edge of the Arabian Sea, has been known for political and sectarian violence, and criminal gangs involved in drug trafficking and kidnapping for ransom.
The security forces have recently launched a crackdown on criminal gangs, killing over 50 suspected gangsters in the last six months.Last Mod: 19 Nisan 2014, 10:13
