Tajikistan Parliament approved on Friday transit of British miitary equipment and armed forces located in Afghanistan via Tajik lands.

The agreement between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom had been signed by Namayandegan, lower house of the parliament, in Dushanbe in April this year.

 According to the agreement, 11,000 containers with military arsenal and 3,000 vehicles will be shipped from Afghanistan before the end of 2014.

UK can also use the ground and airspace of Tajikistan, and its planes can make emergency landing in Tajik airports in case of techinical problems.

There are currently about 9,500 British troops in Afghanistan, with a planned reduction to 5,200 by the end of 2013.

All the foreign forces are scheduled to withdraw from Afghanistan by the end of 2014.
