Two senior pilots are said to be missing after the crash near the Kazakhstan capital Almati.

Kazakhstan's Defence Ministry has confirmed that an SU-27 plane has crashed near the capital Almati.

According to a statement, the plane vanished from radar while it was coordinating a training session for fighter gets.

The plane was later found 15 kilometers from Almati's Koksusky district.

Two senior pilots are said to be missing after the crash.

Although the cause of the crash is not currently known, the Defence Ministry said it was launching an investigation into the possible cause.
