The people of Bosnia and Herzegovina are more than ready to have their country move forward towards the European Union membership, the bloc’s foreign policy chief said Friday.
Addressing a press conference in Sarajevo, the EU’s foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, said there was a significant political will in the leadership that wanted Bosnia and Herzegovina to be part of the EU.
''We always say all countries in Western Balkans have a future in the European Union and we have to make it real now,'' Mogherini added.
The EU recognized Bosnia and Herzegovina as a “potential candidate” in 2003, but the country was yet to formally apply for the coveted membership.
At the end of 2010, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina were granted the right to travel to Schengen countries without a visa, according to the EU.
