Major General and Chief of the Joint Staff of the Defense Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina Ante Jelec met with the Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Army General Ljubisa Divkovic during his first official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina today in Sarajevo, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
At the meeting chief of armies commended the previous cooperation and discussed about the future training and exercises of two armies.
Recent training provided by the Serbian Army has achieved good results and have created a precondition for joint action, maybe in United Nations (UN) missions, said Jelec at the press conference after the meeting.
In his address, General Divkovic reffered to the future cooperation and said that the regional cooperation is one of the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Serbia.
"A special place in this area takes military cooperation in order to solve all the important issues, establish better understanding and improve overall relations", said General Divkovic adding that the Defense Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbian Army have the capacities to train and specialize the staff, control and store the ordinance and achieve the cooperation in the military-medical assistance.
Responding to a reporter's question on mutual cooperation of the two armies, General Divkovic said that in addition to the exchange of experts and experiences in different areas, the two armies "have a lot in common and mutual desire is to use it in the best possible way and to jointly implement our goals", said Divkovic.
Chief of armies today will visit the Peace Support Operation Training Centre in Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSOTC).
Serbian General Divkovic is in his first official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina previously were part of Yugoslavia which fell apart in early 1990's. Serbia participated in the Bosnian war after that.
