Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev called National Security Council on an extraordinary meeting on February 26 as the political crisis is escalating in the country.

Plevneliev said that recent incidents in the country would be assessed during the meeting.

Social and political tension in Bulgaria, which was created by resignation of Boiko Borisov government, is rising in the country.

For the past two weeks, people have been rushing into the streets and holding protests.

Protestors are asking more effective representation of people at parliament.

The protests initiated against astronomical electric bills were transformed into anti-government protests in Bulgaria, and government resigned on February 20.
