Kosovo introduces visas to Bosnian citizens

World Bulletin / News Desk

The Kosovan government said Wednesday that it will grant visas to citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina wishing to visit.

Enver Hoxhaj, Kosovo's Minister of Foreign Affairs, said it had come to the decision following Bosnia's decision not to revoke visas for Kosovans wishing to travel in the opposite direction.

In December 2013, the Kosovan government introduced visas for citizens of all countries which did not recognize Kosovo's independence.

Hoxha said it had decided to grant the visas as a message to Bosnian officials "to find a political solution (to disagreements between the two countries) in future so that our and Bosnian citizens can (one day) travel without visas."

Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are the only former Yugoslav republics that have not recognised Kosovo since it declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
