Minister for European Integration of Kosovo, Vlora Citaku, said on Tuesday that her country has become recognized as an independent state by Facebook.
“Facebook recognized Kosovo as a state,” Citaku said on Twitter.
At the same time, Kosovo deputy foreign minister Petrit Selimi twitted that Facebook officially confirmed that from now on it would recognize Kosovo as “independent state and market”.
Until today, when somebody tries to find Pristina, Kosovo's capital, on Facebook, it has been placed in Serbia.
Kosovo gained its independence from Serbia in 2008. Until today, over 100 countries recognized its sovereignty.
Group of Facebook users recently launched an online campaign to gather signatures for the letter addressed to Mark Zuckerberg, founder and the owner, asking him to recognize Kosovo.Last Mod: 20 Kasım 2013, 12:04
