Russian Defense Minister Sergey Kuzhugetovich Shoygu is in Serbia where he began his formal visit by meeting Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic on Tuesday night.
They spoke about improving the two defense ministries' cooperation in the fields of military industry, education and equipment modernization.
The two politicians noted that relations between Serbia and Russia have traditionally been good and have even improved during the past few decades.
"It particularly emphasized the need for the improvement of economic cooperation and expectations to participate in Russian investments in the privatization of Serbian companies, as well as the investments in industry development in Serbia," the statement released by the Serbian Government after the meeting said.
On Wednesday morning, Shoygu met his counterpart Nebojsa Rodic, and the two ministers are expected to sign an agreement on cooperation in the defense field.
