Georgia 'on track' for NATO membership, says FM

World Bulletin / News Desk

Georgia's Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze expressed her hopes that Georgia would one day be entered into NATO, but ruled out such a move taking place this year.

Saying that the move towards NATO membership was 'on track', she added that Georgia "is pursuing democratic reforms and strengthening democracy" to meet NATO standards.

Calls have been made to enter Georgia along with Ukraine and Moldova into NATO to protect them from possible attacks from Russia, especially after Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine.
