Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Wednesday proposed loyalist Karim Masimov for a new term as prime minister following the veteran leader's victory in a presidential election.

The presidential press service announced Nazarbayev's decision after Karimov's cabinet resigned, a formal step paving the way for the formation of a new government. Nazarbayev was elected for a new five-year term on Sunday.
