Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay has said that Turkey, as the guarantor country, is aware of its responsibilities in protecting Turkish Cypriots’ rights when Sibel Siber, parliament speaker of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and a parliamentary delegation visited him in Ankara on Tuesday.
Atalay said they wished everything is better in TRNC and because Turkey’s experience in economy was shared, no economic crisis hit TRNC in 2012–2013, while a great financial crisis was experienced in southern Cyprus.
Atalay added that Turkey is in favor of negotiations with Greek Cypriots and for this reason both President Abdullah Gul and PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan met UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu came together with his Greek counterpart.
Siber for her part said that they are working on restarting talks in Cyprus and Turkish part supports this with their peaceful stance.Last Mod: 27 Kasım 2013, 10:28
