22 Syrian truck drivers who were waiting at the Akcakale Border Gate for the past 15 days returned to Syria on Sunday.
The Syrian truck drivers had taken cargoes to Iraq via the Oncupinar Border Gate before the Turkish Minister of Customs and Trade, Hayati Yazici ordered the Cilvegozu, Oncupinar and Karkamis border gates to be closed to all incoming and outgoing traffic.
Following Yazici's order, the Syrian truck drivers came to the Akcakale Border Gate and began waiting for a permission to enter Syria. The Syrian drivers were able to return to Syria after bureaucratic procedures that lasted 15 days.
A Syrian truck driver, Maksum Beri said that he was happy to be able to go back to Syria.
